Last Call is a mobile app in development that it’d be great to see launched.
“Every night, because their extra food won’t last until morning, restaurants are forced to add to the growing food waste epidemic. Last Call is a late night delivery service that helps restaurants reduce food waste, while giving customers the food they love at discounted prices.”
A push notification alerts users when the app opens for the night.
Users enter their delivery address.
Menu items populate based on user location.
Restaurants list what fresh items they have left to sell at a discounted price before they have to be thrown out.
Meals are sold on a first come, first served basis.
Easy as that.
Developed by Becca Antonucci, a copywriter at Deutsch, and her partner Taejun Park, an art director at JWT, the duo are looking for outside help to get the service up and running.
Becca told me that building the app is much less of a challenge than building the infrastructure needed for the service to work. Ideally, they want to partner with food ordering services such as Seamless or UberEATS, so rather than starting from scratch they’d be able to add an “earth-friendly” option to those services.
